Sinopec Service became the biggest drilling service provider in Kuwait

Issuing time:2015-09-01 13:38 On September 24th, Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation, a subsidiary of Sinopec Oilfield Service Corporation (Sinopec Service), signed a contract covering 9 oil drilling machines with Kuwait National Petroleum Company(KNPC). Before that, Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation has won a tender for 8 drilling machines this June. Therefore, a total of 17 oil drilling machines have been gripped by Sinopec Service, amounting to 1 billion US dollars. In this round of bid for 36 sets of oil drilling machines launched by Kuwait National Petroleum Company, Sinopec Service got 17. As of now, Sinopec Service has provided up to 32 sets of drilling machines to KNPC’s drilling business, becoming its biggest service provider. Kuwait is renowned as Kingdom of Oil, its oil reserve accounts 10% of the world’s total. Kuwait National Petroleum Company has a high HSE standard, posing a very demanding qualification for the contractor’s ability to manufacture the whole set of equipment. KNPC has already attracted dozens of contractors from U.S., Germany and Italy to engage in the competition for its drilling business. In order to promote the equipments made in China, Sinopec Service has many times invited KNPC’s delegations to visit the fabrication yard and check the equipments’ performance. As a witness to the equipments’ proved ability to excel in the real practices, KNPC has agreed to use the blowout preventer and hydraulic power tong made in China. These aside, the Chinese top drive and downhole equipments are also included into KNPC’s list. Obviously, the made in China equipments will largely reduce the costs for the equipments’ daily maintenance and supplements.
